Could it have something to do with the .NET Framework? There's no windows update available. Also think it could have something to do with Norton Internet Security, but I find that to be unlikely.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Can you confirm which version you are running? This seems reminiscent of issues w fixed with v1.0.1. if you're running the latest version for sure and are still experiencing this problem then we will have to try to track down the missing reference. Thanks for letting us know

I have the exact same issue. However I did have a windows update to do, which I did, but still get the same error message. I'm running Win7 Professional x64.

I also am having the same issue, just downloaded and installed today, version I am not sure how to get that since it will not fire up, but I can tell you that I downloaded it at 10:30 or so on 8/17/2011 from the main page and the link was labeled stable. I hope that gives you at least a little idea of the version. I am also on Win7 x64 with a core2 extreme dell laptop with 4 GB ram. Not sure what other info you would want to know. Thanks for your help.

I can confirm the same issue with 1.0.1.0 on Win7 Ultimate x64. I've put a copy of the full app crash report here: http://pastebin.com/BW3cyxmt

Thanks for the confirmation, I wish it said which DLL it couldn't find, but I'll hunt this down. It would be nice if I knew how to report it, but I'm using the same OS and Framework versions you guys are and do not experience this issue.

I've come up with a way I think might help me identify what's missing; I'm moving this weekend, but I'll try to attach a special package to this ticket sometime this weekend that will help me identify what is missing on your machines that isn't missing in mine. If someone could help me by running it and attaching the log information I think we can make some progress on this. Thanks everyone for supporting the project.

I could run it for testing if you need, just let me know. Isn't that the way developing works, works great on your PC and then you give it to someone and blamo it stops....especially for your boss!

TheXenocide wrote Aug 22, 2011 at 2:46 PM

Sorry I didn't get to post the debug stuff, but this error actually just started reproducing on one of my development machines, so I should be able to hunt it down soon.

TheXenocide wrote Aug 30, 2011 at 1:08 PM

I'm not sure if I'm getting the same exact error or not, but either way I'm actually having a tricky time hunting it down. This kind of error is the first priority to me because there are people who can't use the application, which takes precedence over features, but I think I'm going to need to find some help from someone more familiar with xulrunner.

Very cool, thanks for the update. Good luck and hopefully you can find it!

I personally assume, the problem comes with the installed .NET Framework, the exception looks a bit like it... For which version of .NET you developped the application?
I'm using .NET 4.0, 3.5 should be installed, too (Win7 Default)... Would be interesting what the others are using...

I've attached the Windows Event Log Report in the file, maybe that helps

I'm getting the issue too on v1.0.1 in Win 7 x64, opened up debugging in Visual Studio and this is what I'm seeing in the callstack.
  • [System.DllNotFoundException] {"Unable to load DLL 'xpcom': The specified procedure could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007F)"} System.DllNotFoundException
And it's happening on this line:
OpenGeckoSharp.dll!Skybound.Gecko.Xpcom.Initialize(string binDirectory) + 0xf5 bytes
Hope this helps

I am also having this problem, Win7 x64. Shame as I'd really like the functionality!

Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback and sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Sadly, I think this is a side-by-side versioning issue brought on by the embedded gecko engine used in this project and it's also affecting me. Since the engine is supposed to be embedded this seems like a flaw in the browser portion. We're working on a new solution trying to use something with Chromium Embedded Framework (embedded Google Chrome) which will hopefully be more isolated and reliable.

Love your user name - I typically take Xenocide 3...but figured in this case that might be a bad idea... ;D
OSC is amazing.

On-Topic: I had this working just fine on my last OS install, but I wiped a few days ago, and now I get this same error message.

Was running Win 7 x64 Home Premium, now running 7 Ultimate.
